LINDSEY SHACKELFORD MSW, LISW, LCDC III
I specialize in treating common issues experienced by teenagers as they navigate through adolescence. This time period is often challenging for the teenager but also for the parent. Relationships become strained and parents often times think that they don’t even know their own child anymore. Most of the time the teenager struggle to recognize themselves as their personal identity is forming along with their bodies changing. This is a prime time for peer influence, substance abuse and mental health issues to occur. That’s why I’m here to help.
I am committed to helping people find the internal motivation necessary to improve their lives. I understand that no two people experience challenges the same way and that no challenge is too small to explore in counseling. I have worked closely with families to encourage building positive relationships and growth. Coming to counseling can sometimes cause anxiety so I look to create a non-judgmental therapeutic environment based on trust and openness.
I have experience treating different types of concerns such as addiction, ADHD, anxiety, childhood behavioral problems, depression, family issues, adolescent development, communication issues, narcissistic personality traits and many others.
I tend to offer therapeutic suggestions that I have tried and found effective for myself. To stay centered and connected to the community, I enjoy exercising, yoga and being an avid Cincinnati sports fan.
