Spotlight on LiveWell Group therapist Sarah Patrick MS, PCC
LiveWell Group wanted to take the opportunity to put a spotlight on therapists in the practice so our readers can get to know each of them a bit more. Please enjoy the spotlight on LiveWell Group therapist Sarah Patrick MS, PCC
- Why did you choose to become a private practice therapist?
I chose to become a private practice therapist in order to better and more specifically, assert my skills as a therapist. Working in a private practice setting affords me the opportunity to work with clients where my expertise better matches client needs. This allows for the delivery of exceptional and intentional care. Since working as a private practice therapist was always my ultimate goal of entering the helping profession, I can say this is truly a dream job for me!
- What is special to you about the therapeutic relationship?
The therapeutic relationship that is built in a client therapist relationship is like no other working relationship that I can think of. What other environment can someone experience such openness and support to changing their life and living to their fullest potential? I feel honored and humbled to be able to walk beside clients on their path of growth and change.
- Why do you enjoy treating the concerns in your area of expertise?
I enjoy treating my area of expertise, as I feel equipped to be able to affect and support change and growth for my clients. I feel that my education and background has established a solid foundation for understanding what clients seek therapy services for, from addictions, to mood issues, trauma related experiences, and even relationships. Working as a private practice therapist has allowed me to focus on client needs where my level of experience and training is not only the greatest, but wherein my passions lie.
- How do you keep yourself mentally healthy and connected?
I keep myself mentally healthy by indulging in things that support my own emotional and physical health. Emotionally, I spend most of my free time with my friends, family, and four-legged companion- a German Shepherd Husky mix that I rescued several years ago from the Humane Society. Physically, I enjoy yoga, cycling, and weight-lifting. On the other side of my appreciation for fitness, I am a self-proclaimed “foodie” and am always looking for new recipes and restaurants to try. I am also a music aficionado and was recently given a record player, for which I have started growing a collection of albums for.
